GW is my FIRST online game (I played Freelancer online but dont consider it as a mmo) and strangely I have confidence in the devs since 2005 & GW release. I will buy GW² + GW3 + GW4 + GW The Last.
I dont buy other PC game since I play GW, funny Anet makes me save my money congrats.....

I'll be playing GW2 unless the rumoured BioWare MMO comes out, in which case I'll probably play that instead because I know that a game by BioWare will just about always be better than the competition, ArenaNet included. They're just that good. Even if there's a monthly fee. Because a game by BioWare is essentially guaranteed to have a strong story and be very, very fun (KotOR, JE, BG stand out as main examples).

Or the 40K MMO in development by Vigil, but I haven't learned enough about that yet to determine whether it will be good.

But being on more or less even footing with the long-time players will be a plus for me.

Well i think the reason this is posted is because the direction of change and the dissappointment in GWEN. I think everyone will eventually purchase GW2. But how long would you play? Will GW2 require skill and time to play or will it be a game with a 2 year old mentality? Will Anet care enough in GW2 to keep the player base playing constantly on there servers? People say that GW is a game you can put down for a while and pick back up, but it really hasnt been that kind of a game. Most people will play with in a couple of days to a week leaving a constant amout of players on there servers at all times. GW2 could very well follow extinction as most new MMO's have. But everything we say in this thread is just speculation.

hmmm, like the OP I have been playing gw for a long time (over 2 years now), and have come to the realization that prophecies was the most well put together campaign...it went down hill from there. Yes I bought and played both of the following chapters in anticipation of better things, only to be disappointed by the actual outcome. Gw:en has also been a bigger disappointment that I thought it could be. So if reasoning on this line continues gw2 will be even worse than I had hoped and thus not worth my time and money to get.

SO

unless they make some big changes I will not be getting gw2 either. I will continue to play gw, until such time that I am no longer willing to deal with the messed up stuff in game.

Probobly won't be buying. I'll most likely have Wrath of the Lich King and the (possible) next WoW expansion by then.

Why can't they just stick to GW1 instead? Honestly...

Sometimes I think this, more than anything, is what causes all the "I'm Quitting GW!!" and GW is DYING!!!" threads that keep popping up.

Some people have played this game like a religion since Day1. No matter how much you love something or enjoy it, after a time (that varies for each person) it starts to pall or get boring. For an analogy, I love steak but if I had to eat it and nothing else, every day, day in and day out, eventually I'd get sick of it and be ready to kill for a hot dog..lol

I've played since the beta weekends before Prophecies was released, and have at times burned myself out on GW, and had to take a break for a couple weeks up to a couple months a time or two. But I ALWAYS come back because all in all, Guild Wars is the best game I've ever bought and played.

That is the true beauty of the game design and pricing scheme Anet has put together. I can play like a fiend and then walk away and come back whenever I feel like it, without it costing me any money or getting behind the power curve as compared to players that never stop playing. All that, and it's just a great game. Sure it has it's issues, but not a single change, nerf, or whatever has ever been a game killer, at least for me, and I look forward to see what kind of new toys they are gonna put into GW2.

<3 the flames =]

And no its not a threat. Im not trying to scare Anet into making a game I will purchase lol. This is a forum, im giving an opinion and looking for others (agree or disagree)

and About the 6/7/8 months you should look into that. I said it was a rumour.
Starcraft2.com is getting new units and updates weekly, and I have heard from a friend that bought a computer gaming magazine that it will be shortly after the new year this game will be released (RUMOUR EMPHASIZE)

And yes its still a long way away, but im still very skeptical about it.
I can usually only play a max of 2 hours of a game a night, so it starcraft takes it over, and it will most likely because I loved the first one, then I just wont have time to play a grind game.

If you've played GW one so much then there's no reason why you won't like GW2 as well because it'll take the best of GW and remove the worst. I get the feeling the opening post is, to be frank, a threat.
I couldnt agree more that u can become unhappy with guild wars after 21 months. But i grew bored of it back in May, the only thing that kept me playing from May until now is GWEN. Saving for armor, leveling characters, basically preparing for it, then i find it to be rather a huge dissappointment. Just my opinion. There are some tidbits to enjoy, but way not enough to keep my busy for the next year and a half till GW2 comes out. I think the question is ment to sound more like, If GW2 is similar to GWEN will you buy it?

I'm buying Guild Wars 2 ASAP.

I'm hyped. HYPED I TELL YOU!

It's gonna be the real deal. It won't be so 'meh' like Factions, Nightfall or GW:EN. I mean it's gonna be a real awesome, meaty game.

And I can say with confidence it's gonna top Prophecies. Bet on that.

QFT.

I was planning on buying anyway (Factions was meh, but <3 NF), but the fact remains that ANet have stated they're sticking to the same pay once model. I'm sure most gamers have forked out for a game to try it, only to have it sit on their shelves unused for a while (I haven't touched Sim City in ages), and that's the advantage of GW over other MMOs, that if the urge does hit to play it again, you don't have to fork out for access again.

It's too early for me to say whether I will keep playing it once it comes out (I think I will though), but regardless of whether I get sick of it or not, I will be buying it.

I was very satisfied with Guild Wars until recently. Between Jeff Strain's speech, the Mission Bonus Pack, and Eye Of The North, arenanet is out to try to lose my business.

It basically comes down to this: Arenanet feels like it no longer has anything to prove. I feel lied to, and I don't feel like purchasing another game.

GW was the first game to get me interested into online RPG's so I'll probably get GW2 if I see what I like in beta, especially I want to see how the storyline(s) turns out. GW1 gave me a lot of enjoyment for over two years even though I had some disagreements with a couple of updates, I still enjoyed it. I'm a laid-back gamer I don't take it too seriously.

Although, I'll probably won't play it as much as I did in GW1 because of the other games I'll be playing which will be out before GW2 such as Hellgate and Warhammer.

This thread = win

[/sarcasm]

Seriously, GW2 (and Starcraft 2) are still months/years away from being released. We hardly know anything about GW2 beyond a few vague and ambiguous statements that came out in a magazine 6 months ago. I, for one, won't be at all concerned over whether or not I'm buying GW2 until much closer to its release.

And the whole assumption that "Anet screwed everything up in GW:EotN, therefore GW2 is going to suck"... >.> If you used something that on a debate team, you would lose.

I will be buying GW2. I see it like this, for $50, I can play pool for 50 hours at the university across town, I can go see 5 movies, or I can buy GW2 that I'm pretty sure I will atleast 200 hours of pleasure out of. That is if I don't like the game, and I experiment with several different classes and go far enough into the game to find out how they play against tough enemies. If I do like the game I'm sure I will get 1500 hours out of it, which is what I'm at right now in GW1 and will easily be over 2000 hours by the time GW2 is released.

During GW:EN's development, most of ArenaNet was already working on Guild Wars 2, which is why GW:EN is so underwhelming.
